Stops Along the Way

We've been going to Yosemite and the rest of the Sierra for so long that we have a list of places we like to stop along the way: restaurants, of course, but also produce stands, and now we even have a mechanic!

On our last trip we ate lunch off 8 Mile Road near Stockton at Tikka Masala restaurant. It is right off I-5, easy to get to, and we loved the food. The best item is the Samosa Chaat, for $7.99, and enough food for both of us. Delicious! Here's thewebsite: https://www.tikkamasalaca.com/

And on the way home we stopped at an old favorite, the Priest Station Cafe at the top of Old Priest Grade. Great food friendly people, and a wonderful playlist of old blues, jazz...and an occasional opera aria. The best place to eat on the Big Oak Flat Entrance highway:

And our beloved Vin Blanc lit up its check engine light on the way up the hill. We stopped in Groveland, only to be told that the best mechanic was back in Big Oak Flat: Miller's Towing. They were busy (always a good sign) but managed to get a mechanic to look at the van right away. And within half an hour we were on our way again, paying only for the half an hour it took them to deal with the issue. Great service, nice people.

New Trail on the Coast

This is great news--a new hiking trail on the coast just North of Santa Cruz, much of it built with the help of volunteers....
