Lots going on in our National Parks, and most of it is bad news.


There's a hiring freeze on all federal employees, including summer seasonal workers at our national parks. Of course, the courts have yet to weigh in on whether this is legal, but in the meantime those positions are unfilled. No word on how the National Park Service is going to deal with this.


Yosemite Park, for one, doesn't seem to have a ready answer:


And due to lower snow levels and staffing issues, the Badger Pass ski area in Yosemite will not open at all this year. Still waiting to hear if the High Sierra Camps will open this summer, or if the park will!


Meanwhile the Pilowskis are still at it up in Tuolumne Meadows, as the only NPS presence in the high country of Yosemite:



No word on their jobs, moving forward.
