Undercurrents of history

I don't like the title of this piece in the Guardian, but I do like the way it ties hiking to connections with history and worlds that have now disappeared for many of us.

Certainly hiking puts us in communicaton with a world without cellphones and streaming videos, but this goes far beyond that.

At least it's worth a read.
