Thoughts for Autumn

It's colder now. At the higher elevations, it's really cold. And the leaves have turned. There's no question about it, summer backpacking has been over for some time.

We've suspended service for our Zoleo messaging device, cleaned most of our gear, and reconciled ourselves to more modest trips into the mountains for the next few months.

But that doesn't mean no trips at all. This colors are beautiful at this time of year, and the trails are far less crowded. But when we go, we'll focus on destinations within an easy one-day hike of the trailhead, so we can bail out easily, or just do day hikes. And soon enough, the roads will close completely, and we'll be in full winter mode.

Stay Safe.
