The Season is Winding Down

The cables on Half Dome came down today. So don't plan on making that climb until next year, unless you are serious rock climbers. And overnight parking on Tioga Road (or anywhere close to it, like a trailhead) will be prohibited as of tomorrow, October 15.

And the backpackers campground is closing November 1, mainly due to a lack of use once we hit the colder weather.

This is not to say you should go to the mountains. It's a lovely time of year, and a great time to visit. But watch the weather, and make sure you have an escape hatch for any adventure you plan. It's that time of year.
