How bad was it?

If you read our post about our evacuation from Lake Thomas Edison, one thing might have stood out. There were a number of through hikers in the Vermilion Valley Resort, and they were clearly conflicted about their plans. Some wanted to continue hiking SOBO, whihc would have taken them away from the fire at that point, And others were headed NOBO...which certainly took them closer to the path of the fire. And it's not as if they had cars to drive away. They hiked to VVR, and were going to leave VVR on foot.
