Hiking with kids

We took our kids hiking when they were small. Of course, the first hikes were on our hip, or in a stroller or carrier.

That's our adult daughter below, who still joins us on hikes

(My mother raised four kids while often spending summers in the mountains, before child carriers. But she enjoyed hiking, taking the youngest on her hip, sometimes for miles!)

As they got older they could hike themselves, but we tried to keep things within their limits. For a two year old, a two mile hike is a long day, and might easily take more than two hours. And two hours, for a two year old, is a looong time.

All of this to introduce this story of a dad who is obviously unclear on the concept of hiking with kids
