We've had some wonderful experiences in the fall in the Sierra, and this story in SF Gate reminded us that it's getting to be that time of year again.

You don't have to backpack to see this stuff--most of it is visible from the many roads on the east side of the Sierra.

Our favorite spot is Hope Valley, off the Carson Pass Highway, but as this story notes, many of the eastern canyons of the Sierra have wonderful aspen groves, and they turn a brilliant shade of gold in the fall.

Well worth a drive up to see!
