Beating the Rush

We really tried.

After spending all day on the trails, we thought it would be nice to go out to dinner in Sequoia at Wuksachi Lodge, which is just a couple of miles from our campsite in the Lodgepole Campground. They serve a limited menu (think pizza and burgers) but at least they do the cooking.

But we were going to be smart about it, a go early, to avoid the rush. The restaurant (take out only--but you could eat on the deck) opened at 5:30, and that's when we left the campground. By the time we arrive at the lodge, it was 5:40. And the deck was full of people, and there were at least twenty-five people in line waiting to order.

Sigh.

We went back to camp and ate one more night of our camping food. Turns out, everybody else had exactly the same idea.

The photo here is not the Wuksachi Lodge. It's the Squatter's Cabin near Crescent Meadow...but the line was shorter.
