Spring Break Plans?

Well, we had them. We wanted to get back out into the desert, especially since our previously planned trip a few weeks ago was hamstrung by a jury duty notice. No, I didn't get called for jury duty, but I did have to wait each night to find out, and that meant sticking close to home.

So we changed our plans, and I noticed that between time off for spring break and the rest of our schedule, we had nearly two weeks of open calendar ahead. Normally we don't do much during spring break, because things get so crowded. But this seemed like too good an opportunity to miss.

I went online to make a few campground reservations, only to find there was no room at the inn. Every campground I checked was sold out. Desert, beach, you name it.

Of course, I wasn't interested in private resorts with pools and golf courses--only state parks and national parks. ReserveCalifornia and Recreation.gov were booked solid.

Hmmm. That's something to remember for the future. And now I need a new plan.
