No, Santa Cruz is not the Sierra, but it's still a lovely place. We know it well. We went to school at UC Santa Cruz (It's where we met!) and have been back many times over the years. The section of Highway 1 between Santa Cruz and Half Moon Bay is one of our favorite scenic drives in all the world.


So it is wonderful news that there is a new National Monument that preserves some of the most spectacular of this land for all time. Here's the story:
