Our guided tour began with a visit to Jerash, a Roman city outside of Jordan that we'd never heard of---and completely exceeded our expectations. The site is vast, with long, colonaded streets leading off into the surrounding town, towering temples, and an amazing theater.

We loved it.

And then to the citadel, the ancient fortress built to protect the city, and host to yet another temple to the gods. There is a small archeological museum up here that we also visited, but the collection wasn't nearly so nice as the Jordan Museum. Still, it had some fun exhibits.

From here we heard a protest in front of the Grand Husseini Mosque--but by the time we were ready to do down there, it had dissolved.

After wandering around the market one more time, we headed back to our hotel to get ready for our trip to Petra and beyond.
