We're heading right into the heart and heat of fire season in California, and that means making sure our cabin is fully complian with the local regulations. It's been quite a chore.

First of all, PG&E came by this winter and tool down a bunch of our trees. They were worried about their power lines, and left quite a mess behind. We had to hire someone to haul out most of the logs, and then I cleaned up the rest into huge piles, which we also had hauled away.

The smaller logs I cut into firewood, so that was a cord of wood that I had to cut and split by hand, and still cost a few thousand dollars!

The good news? Today we got our report card from Cal Fire---and apparently they were happy with the work we had done. No issues, and a clean bill of fire health!
