Bear Trouble in Lassen

We were saddened to read that part of Lassen Volcanic National Park has been closed to backpacking because of a troublesome bear. Sadly, the hikers around Twin and Rainbow Lakes have not been careful enough with their food, and a black bear has now become accustomed to eating that food...and not caring if any people are around or not.

So the park has closed those areas to backpacking, in the hopes that the bear will forget all about human food, and go back to eating bear food. We hope so too.
