The One that Got Away

Yeah, I caught a fifteen-inch golden trout on our last backpacking trip. Gorgeous fish, and a wonderful adventure to try to land it with a small fly and lightweight gear.

And as I saw it there, exhausted from our battle, I couldn't bring myself to kill it. I almost never kill fish, but this one in particular deserved to live to fight another day.


I hope the next angler who hooks him does the same. What an honor it is to see and touch a fish like that...
