In spite of what you wrote about getting all kinds of fancy, new stuff, Jordan went out and bought " the big three" and is now so excited to put them to use. Just think about how much we could have saved if we had read your comments before he put the order in."
This is referring to our post about the Big Three--and how too many people worry about getting the perfect piece of gear, instead of getting out on the trail.
So we'd suggest to PL: Don't worry about spending good money on good equipment. You won't ever regret it.
But you should also never let the lack of money keep you out of the mountains. There's plenty of inexpensive equipment, used or new, that will work well enough to let you have a great time. And when you have the dough, you have a better idea of exactly what yol want, and why.
